In order to maintain product quality and safety in the mass manufacturing of products in our transparent facility, which can supply hundreds of thousands of clinical nutrition products to patients nationwide every year, the process technology team first had to answer two questions.

• Can products with technical characteristics be produced smoothly in a commissioned production facility?

• Is there room for further improvement in the production process while ensuring quality and safety?

It is in our CNAS laboratory in China Medical City that our cross-functional project team of process technologists, food science and technology experts and industrial engineers test new product technologies and come up with efficient and sustainable process solutions to these problems. Only after the process has been refined and fully validated do we move to full-scale manufacturing.

Our CNAS laboratory has three main functions.

• Testing new formulations from research and product development teams, taking nutritional concepts through various processing steps to actual products that can be manufactured on a large scale, and ensuring that quality requirements are met.

• Act as an intermediary between formulation development and factory manufacturing, testing critical control points for products before they go into mass manufacturing.

• Testing new technologies and materials to further improve our manufacturing processes.

Special process technology for emulsion dosage forms

Emulsions are one of the most suitable clinical nutrition dosage forms known, providing a full range of fat-soluble and water-soluble nutrients and reducing the process for patients or healthcare professionals to prepare nutrition solutions. We have a number of technologies related to the emulsion process, including proprietary formulations that maintain emulsion stability despite the use of certain new nutrients, as well as better control of emulsion microorganisms and improved equipment to enhance quality stability.
